Some users notice this right after trying to “fix” Netflix by clearing cache or app data. The app opens normally, shows the Netflix logo, and then stays stuck on a loading screen or spinning circle. It never reaches the profile selection page, even after waiting several minutes.
This usually happens because clearing cache removes temporary files that the app expects during startup. When certain authentication tokens, background permissions, or stored configuration files are wiped, Netflix may fail to rebuild them correctly on the next launch. Instead of showing an error, the app simply hangs while trying to reconnect to its servers.
Force Close the App Completely
After clearing cache, Netflix may still be running partially in memory.
- Open Settings on your phone.
- Go to Apps → Netflix.
- Tap Force Stop.
- Wait about 10 seconds, then reopen Netflix.
This forces the app to restart its initialization process from scratch.
Check Network Connection Stability
Right after cache removal, Netflix needs to download fresh configuration data. A weak or unstable connection can prevent this step.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
- Disable VPN if one is active.
- Turn Airplane Mode on for 20 seconds, then turn it off.
- Open Netflix again.
If the loading screen disappears after changing networks, the issue was likely a failed server handshake during startup.
Clear Data Again — Then Sign In Fresh
Sometimes partial data remains after the first reset.
- Go to Settings → Apps → Netflix.
- Select Storage.
- Tap Clear Cache and then Clear Data.
- Restart the phone before opening the app.
- Launch Netflix and sign in again.
The reboot matters because Android reloads system permissions and background services that Netflix depends on.
Check Date and Time Settings
Incorrect system time can silently block Netflix authentication.
- Open Settings → Date & Time.
- Enable Automatic date and time.
- Restart the app.
If the device clock is even slightly off, secure connections may fail during login verification.
Update or Reinstall Netflix
Clearing data sometimes exposes compatibility issues with older app versions.
- Open Google Play Store or App Store.
- Search for Netflix.
- Install any available update.
If updating does not help:
- Uninstall Netflix.
- Restart the device.
- Install the app again from the store.
A clean installation rebuilds all startup files that may have been corrupted after cache removal.
Alternative Fix: Disable Battery Optimization
On some devices, aggressive battery management stops Netflix while it tries to reload data.
- Go to Settings → Apps → Netflix.
- Open Battery.
- Select Unrestricted or Don’t optimize.
Open Netflix again and allow it a minute to complete loading.
Once the app successfully rebuilds its session and reaches the profile screen, the loading issue typically does not return unless cache or data is cleared again.
